The printed circuit board industry uses the term VIA to refer to a through-hole in a printed circuit board. 'Via' is the Latin word for 'road' and has the same meaning with 'by way of' in such a phrase like "Going from Tokyo to New York by way of Chicago." In the printed circuit board industry, it signifies a junction between patterns on the front and back of a printed circuit board.

Our corporate name, Hitachi Via Mechanics (Hitachi Via) signifies not only through-holes of printed circuit boards but also to a global link between people and technology, people and nature, an enterprise and society, and the present and the future.

Also, VIA is an acronym for three important words for our company - 'Value (creation of values),' 'Innovation (technological innovation)' and 'Advance (advanced idea).' With these as keywords, our aim is to contribute to the building of a prosperous, vibrant industry and society.
