Hitachi Via's Environmental Preservation Efforts

ISO14001
Hitachi Via Mechanics, Ltd. is qualified with the Environmental ISO14001 certificate in December 1999. Our environmental management system pursues not only considering our production, harmonizing with the environment, but also decreasing the environmental load in the office under the controlling value.

 
 

Hitachi Via's Environmental Policy

 

Hitachi Via Mechanics, Ltd. and its group companies (the Group) are working on two major environmental policies: "Nature-friendly product design" and "Nature-friendly production activity". In order to pursue these policies, the Group has established "Environmental Management Plans" to promote energy saving, green procurement, prevention of Global Warming, waste reduction and chemical substances risk management.

 

Fundamental Concepts

 

In recognition that the preservation of the global environment is one of the most critical issues for all humankind, harmony with the environment is the top management priority of the Group and the environmental preservation shall be considered in all aspects of the Group activities.

Basic Policy

 

The Group develops/manufactures leading edge mechanics and electronics products such as electronic parts manufacturing systems, factory automation systems and arc welders, etc.

The whole Group, as the value-creating global companies, works on the preservation of global environment to realize sustainable society.

  1. The Group shall assess the environmental impact of its activities, products and services and define its environmental objectives and targets, prevent pollution and make continual improvement on its environmental management system.
  2. The Group shall establish an organization for environmental management to implement its environmental preservation activities with the participation of all sections and members.
  3. The Group shall comply with the environment-related laws/regulations, Hitachi, Ltd. Environmental Policy and its own standards, which are the Group decided to follow.
  4. The Group establishes the following environmental objectives and targets to be achieved through its activities, products and services.
    [Nature-friendly Products]
    To realize Low-Carbon Society, To realize a recycling-based society, the Group works on the followings taking into consideration of industrial machinery characteristics being used for a long period:
    1. Expand Eco-Products thorough the application of environmentally friendly design.
    2. Improve environmental efficiency through the development of energy and resource saving products.
    3. Promote the green procurement to eliminate hazardous material used for the products.
    [Nature-friendly Production Activity]
    To prevent Global Warming and Pollution by Hazardous Material, the Group work on the followings:
    1. Reduce CO2 emission by improving operational efficiency.
    2. Reduce waste and promote recycling.
    3. Ensure proper management of chemicals and reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions.
  5. This Environmental Policy shall be made known to all employees of Hitachi Via group companies through the distribution of text book and the like.
 

This environmental policy shall be officially announced both internally and externally.
